Anesthesia Safety Products Introduces Groundbreaking

High-Flow Infusion Pump to the Veterinary Market

March 29, 2010

Woburn, MA--Anesthesia Safety Products, LLC (ASP) is now shipping the revolutionary FloStarTM Infusion Pump System.  The FloStar is the only veterinary infusion pump that can deliver up to 21 liters of fluid per hour.  Additionally the FloStar provides unrivaled accuracy for its uniquely broad flow-rate range.

The FloStar, designed for remote, out-of-stall mounting, allows for effortless and safe administration of fluids.   The FloStar also features a detachable, menu-driven remote control, which operates the device.  The clear, instinctive screen is easy to use and easy to read.  The user can precisely monitor the transfusion and make adjustments accordingly with the touch of a button.  This state of the art infusion pump was specifically designed for rugged veterinary use, and has proven to be ideal for treating horse colic.

The FloStar is manufactured at ASP headquarters in Woburn, MA.   Since its inception, ASP has sought to develop instruments for the medical and veterinary marketplaces that are both easy to operate and efficacious.  The company is currently seeking FDA approval for the AirPurgeTM System.  The AirPurge provides air embolism protection for human patients.  This leading-edge technology automatically purges air from the IV line and restarts without user intervention.

ASP founders, Dave Healey and Ihsan Haddad, bring to the company nearly 50 years of experience in the medical instrumentation industry, respectively.  Mr. Healey and Mr. Haddad first worked together at Instrumentation Laboratory Inc., over 40 years ago.  Mr. Healey, a mechanical engineer and V.P of IL’s Bio-Medical Division, was responsible for over $100 million in annual shipments of medical instruments, chemical reagents, and polymer disposables.  Mr. Haddad, a chemical engineer, has been awarded over 12 patents (with two more pending).  His work developing and introducing medical devises and disposables exceeds over one billion dollars.  Mr. Healey and Mr. Haddad joined forces again in 2003 when they founded ASP.

ASP’s FloStar Infusion Pump has been very well received by some of the industry’s top veterinarians and surgeons. Attached is a photograph of the FloStar in-use at New England Equine in Dover, NH.
